The duration of Tsinghua MBA is 2 years, but exceptionally, you might need 2.5 years. The basic content of each year are as follows:
Taking required courses and elective courses are the main task in the 1st year. During intensive seasons, you might have classed from 8 am till 10 pm.
Compared with the 1st semester, you will have much more time that you can use for what you want to do in the 2nd year. For example:
- Graduation Report（Required）
- Consulting Project（Required）
- Double degree program (Optional: 1 year)
- Exchange study (Optional: half year)
- Oversea Module (Optional 1-2 weeks)
- Elective class
- Learning Mandarin, qualifications, etc
2.5th year (Exceptional)
If you join a double degree course and spend the 2nd year at an oversea university, you might need another half year to graduate, like the following:
- Complete the other tasks such as graduation report before joining a double degree program in the 1st year. (total 2 years for graduation)
- Complete the other tasks such as graduation report after finishing a double degree program, which will take another half year. (total 2.5 years for graduation)
Tsinghua MBA used to have two different courses, one for English instructed MBA, and the other for Chinese instructed MBA. However, these two courses were integrated in 2014, and now they only have one course which is Tsinghua-MIT Global MBA.
This course is instructed in English, but you can also choose many Chinese instructed elective courses. Not only that, but you can also choose some Chinese instructed required courses such as Marketing, Corporate Finance, etc.

Partnership with MIT Sloan MBA
Tsinghua has a partnership with MIT Sloan MBA, so there are many advantages:
Professors from MIT Sloan wii lecture some compulsory subjects at Tsinghua:
- 1-week intensive course (20 hours * twice)
- 3-hour special lectures (6 times)
You can also join one week optional MIT Sloan Module in Boston, US during the summer vacation. About half of the classmates take that course.
You will receive a certificate (which is not degree) from MIT Sloan after graduation.
You will join Sloan Affiliate Alumni, and receive an MIT e-mail address.
Opportunities with world business leaders
Tsinghua University has a strong connection with world business leaders.
Many well-known US business leaders are joining Advisory Board members at Tsinghua School of Economics & Management, also many Nobel Laureates visit Tsinghua, giving a speech for students. For example:

- Eron Musk (Space X, Tesla Motors CEO, PayPal Founder)
- Jack Ma (Alibaba CEO)
- Peter Thiel (PayPal Founder)

These dream members come to Tsinghua and give students a lecture. In 2014 and 2015, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook conducted his whole speech in Chinese, which became a big topic of conversation among Chinese people.
There are not only lectures, but also other great opportunities, such as lunch meetings with the Advisory Board members, visiting companies, and you can take the intensive special lecture taught by Peter Thiel who is the author of well-known business book, “Zero to One” (will introduce in another article)

Focus on technology and entrepreneur
In China, Tsinghua is the best engineering university, and also has strong partnership with MIT Sloan that aims to integrate business management and technologies. business and technology.
In the background, there is the Chinese government policy. In 1952, Chinese government regrouped the country’s higher education institutions, and Tsinghua University specialized in engineering subject (Peking University also specialized in non-engineering subject). In 1978, this policy was abolished, but Tsinghua University still has a strong engineering characteristic.
In order to recruit Chinese students and lobby for getting the Chinese market, many leaders of tech companies visited Tsinghua University.
Also, Tsinghua MBA emphasizes in Entrepreneurship. For an example, MIT professors’ special lectures are focused on the Entrepreneur, and Tsinghua x-lab provides much entrepreneurial support such as networking, investment, office support, consulting, etc.
Original entrance exam
Tsinghua MBA does not require a TOEFL certificate for the entrance application.
If you take “Tsinghua MBA Alternative Entrance Exam”, which is similar to GMAT, you also do NOT need to take the GMAT or the GRE.
